Description
What is the Very Merry Stroll?
Get in the holiday spirit with a walk through Opelika’s Very Merry Stroll, a holiday showcase at Opelika Public Library made of up to thirty locally decorated live Christmas trees. You may see a tree decorated completely by children’s art or one inspired by Polar Express (we are a Railroad town, after all). There are several decorated with traditional Christmas decorations and others decorated with unconventional products.
Every evening the trees light up the park from dusk until 9 PM. It’s a magical sight. So bring a cup of hot chocolate, take a Very Merry Stroll, and soak up the holiday season.
When is the Very Merry Stroll?
Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, November 26 at 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Very Merry Stroll runs through December 31
How Can I Get Involved?
Businesses or individuals may purchase trees for $350.00
You may be as creative as desired. If you have a plan for a very large installation, please let us know at the time of purchase in the notes/comments section so we can build the trail accordingly.
Businesses may sponsor a tree for a non-profit group. Please let us know via email to opelikalibraryfriends@gmail.com who the partners are and which group will be coming for tree picking day.

11/22 Beginning at Tree Picking – 11/25 Finished by 7pm: Tree Decorating
Decorating Tips and Rules for Businesses
Make sure your decorations are rain and wind safe. Trees will be standing outside in the elements for over 30 days.
Secure ornaments to trees using zip ties, pipe cleaner, string, wire, or other ties. Ornament hooks will fall off in the wind.
NO GLASS ORNAMENTS!
Do not use water-soluble glue on ornaments.
Spray any fabrics with Scotch Guard to prevent mildew.
If you plan to spray paint (colorful paint, glitter, flocking, etc.) your tree, please bring a drop cloth to protect the grass. Be mindful of your neighbors and the wind when spraying.
You may use white or colorful lights, but lights must be LED.
You must bring your own outdoor-rated extension cord and LED lights. Please bring on tree-picking day and volunteers will get your cord ready for your lights before decorating day.
There should be NO decorations on the pathway or blocking the sign with your name.
A Library volunteer will check trees daily and notify you of any lights or decorations that need to be maintained.
