Who we are

The Friends of the Opelika Public Library is a nonprofit group made up of community members who believe in the power of books, education, and, most importantly, our local library. Since we began in 1977, we’ve focused our efforts on promoting the library and inspiring a love of reading and curiosity throughout the Opelika community.

Our Mission

We exist to make sure our library remains a vital part of Opelika. We desire to create a place where people can explore new ideas, learn, and grow – whether that’s through a great book, an engaging event, or bringing ideas to life.

What We Do

The Friends of Opelika Library raises funds through membership fees, book sales, and special events to support the library’s programs, services, and improvements. From hosting children’s story times to upgrading library equipment, we’re here to lend a helping hand whenever the library needs it.
